Delete your account
Last updated In effect from
The fastest way to delete your LingoHunters account is inside the app: Settings → Delete account. It takes effect immediately and needs nothing from us. This page exists for when that is not possible — you have already uninstalled the app, or you cannot sign in — and it tells you exactly what is erased, what we are legally required to keep, and what happens to tokens you paid for.
Delete it yourself, in the app
Open LingoHunters → Settings → Delete account.
You will see exactly what is about to be erased — how many Worddex words, how many tokens, what level you reached — and you type one word to confirm. The account is gone the moment you confirm. There is nothing to wait for, no email to answer, and nobody to ask.
This works for every account, including a guest account you never signed in to. It is the fastest route and the one we would rather you used.
Delete it from here instead
Use this route if you have already uninstalled the app, if you cannot sign in, or if you simply prefer to ask us.
Email [email protected] from the address on the account, with the subject Delete my account.
If your account has no email address on it — a guest account — tell us the account code instead. You will find it in the app, under Settings, in the account section, labelled “Account code” — a long string of letters and numbers you can tap to copy. It is the only way we can tell your account apart from anyone else’s. If you have already deleted the app and never signed in, we cannot identify your account, and neither can anyone else. Nothing about you is reachable from an uninstalled guest account, and it is deleted automatically after 30 days of inactivity.
We will confirm we have received the request, check that the account is yours, delete it, and write back when it is done. We aim to complete requests within 30 days, and usually much sooner.
What is erased
Everything that makes up your account and your play:
- your username, email address, the avatar you chose, and any name from Apple or Google
- every word in your Worddex, and your gameplay history
- your token balance of both kinds, your level and your experience
- your streaks, achievements, daily challenges and power-ups
- your leaderboard and pool entries, and your referral code
- your notification settings and the devices registered to receive them
If you signed in with Apple, we also revoke the Sign in with Apple connection, so LingoHunters no longer appears in your Apple ID’s list of apps.
This is a deletion, not a deactivation. The records are removed, not hidden or frozen, and it cannot be undone.
What we have to keep, and why
Purchase and subscription records. Tax and accounting law requires us to keep records of money that changed hands, and we need them to handle refunds, chargebacks and disputes. What stays is the transaction itself — what was bought, when, for how much, and through which store. Your name, email address and account are detached from it, so what remains is a receipt rather than a record about you. The Privacy Policy sets out the retention periods in full.
Two other things outlive the account. A referral record, where someone else’s code brought you in, stays so that the reward already paid to them is not counted twice — your username, email address, IP address and user-agent are stripped out of it first. And your subscriber profile at RevenueCat, the payments processor that handles store purchases for us, keeps the purchase history behind those receipts; ask us and we will request its deletion there too. The receipts themselves keep the store and processor transaction identifiers, because a receipt that cannot be matched to a payment is no use to anyone.
Everything else is gone.
Tokens you paid for
Unspent tokens are lost when you delete your account, and that is worth being blunt about before you do it. Tokens bought with money and tokens earned by playing are treated differently only in one respect:
- Earned tokens are lost. No money was paid for them.
- Purchased tokens bought in the last 14 days and not yet spent may be refundable. Tell us before you delete — write to [email protected]. On Google Play we can refund the purchase ourselves; on the App Store only Apple can return the money, so we confirm what you are owed in writing and put the claim to Apple for you. After the account is deleted we can no longer work out what you were owed, because the record of it goes with the account.
The app shows you this warning, with the actual number, on the delete screen.
Your statutory rights are unaffected, including your right in the EU, the EEA and the UK to withdraw from a purchase of digital content within 14 days. The Terms of Service explain how tokens work in full.
Delete the app’s data without deleting your account
You do not need to delete your account to stop us processing most of what we hold. In the app you can turn off notifications, turn off personalised ads, and correct your username and email yourself. To ask for anything else — a copy of your data, a correction, or an objection to a particular use — write to [email protected] and see Your rights.
Questions about any of this?
Write to us and a person will answer. If you are exercising a privacy right, say which one and we will treat it as a formal request.
